We are all doing SO much, and feeling stuck or overwhelmed is normal. In our fast-paced world, finding moments to pause and refresh can seem challenging. Whether it’s a week with a packed schedule or a regular day that needs a little sparkle, having a few reliable tools can make all the difference.
I wanted to share some of my favorite ways to hit the refresh button on life. These are simple yet effective ways that help me stay balanced, energized, and most importantly happy.
- The Everything Shower
These always feel like such a big under taking, but once I’m in, it’s the best thing ever. A warm shower can stimulate blood circulation and promote the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. It’s like a mini therapy session with out all the talking. There’s something about feeling like a moisturized little dolphin that makes me feel all feminine and happy!
- Get Moving
Moving your body is a proven mood booster. Engaging in physical activity releases dopamine, enhancing our brain’s pleasure centers and improving cognitive performance. It can be simple, I like to start slow by stretching. Once I get started, I always crave more and instantly feel better. A few deep breaths, a forward fold, or rolling your shoulders is all you need to shift your mindset.
- Digital Detox
Taking a screen break can be hard, but it’s so good for mental and physical health. Too much screen time can strain the eyes and lead to burnout. If you can, unplug for a bit and allow your brain to reset. Read a book, stretch, journal, anything but the blue screen.
- Sleep!
I love a guilt-free nap! A 20 minute nap can enhance alertness and boost memory performance. Sometimes all you need is a little downtime to be more productive.
- Change of Scenery
Changing your environment is a great way to shake things up and increase creativity. New surroundings stimulate the brain and enhance problem-solving skills by activating different neural pathways. So if you’ve been sitting in the same place for too long get up! Take a walk, focus on your breath, along with the trees and let everything else be still for a moment.
When you’re overwhelmed, finding the magic in the mundane can truly transform your day, week, or dare I say life? I really believe that a quick pause and reset can change everything. Remember to carve out time to recharge, allowing yourself to fully immerse yourself in the present moment.
